Hungary Forward Barnabás Varga Stable in Hospital After Serious-Looking Injury Against Scotland

Fractured Cheekbone for Hungarian Striker

Late Hungary Goal Eliminates Scotland from Euro 2024

Hungary forward Barnabás Varga is in stable condition in hospital after suffering a fractured cheekbone in a mid-air collision with Scotland goalkeeper Angus Gunn during Sunday's Euro 2024 qualifier.

The incident occurred in the second half of the match, which Hungary eventually won 1-0, thanks to a late goal by substitute Dominik Szoboszlai.

Varga was carried off the field on a stretcher and taken to hospital, where he was diagnosed with a fractured cheekbone. He will undergo surgery on Monday and is expected to be out of action for several weeks.

The injury is a blow to Hungary, who are now without their leading scorer for the remainder of the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign.

Scotland, meanwhile, were eliminated from Euro 2024 after the defeat, which leaves them bottom of Group C with just one point from five games.
