Fire-Ravaged Ship Carrying Thousands of High-End Vehicles Lost in Atlantic

A cargo ship carrying thousands of luxury cars has sunk to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, sending a fortune in high-end vehicles to a watery grave.

Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, and Bentley Among the Victims

The ship, named Felicity Ace, was carrying approximately 4,000 cars from the Volkswagen Group, including high-end models from Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, and Bentley. The vehicles were destined for dealers in Europe and North America.

Fire and Fateful Journey

The Felicity Ace caught fire in the mid-Atlantic on February 16th. The blaze raged for several days, forcing the crew to abandon ship. Tugboats were dispatched to tow the ship to a safe location, but rough seas and persistent fire made the operation difficult.

Sinking at Sea

On Tuesday, the Felicity Ace sank in the early morning hours, approximately 220 miles off the coast of the Azores Islands. The ship plunged to a depth of over 3,000 meters, taking its precious cargo with it.

Salvage Efforts Unlikely

Experts say that salvage operations are unlikely to be attempted due to the extreme depth of the wreck. The loss of the Felicity Ace represents a significant financial blow to the Volkswagen Group and a poignant loss for customers who had purchased or ordered the luxury vehicles.
